It's not a Chris Craft.......................It's a lifestyle!...........................!!

At some point in time people who are restoring older boats are going to run into a situation where their old carb is corroded tight like one of mine was. The old carb was so corroded I decided I just didn’t want to take the chance of getting into a stall out on the water or experience poor running conditions that would be associated with some sort of internal condition I could not see or understand. Therefore I decided to go with a new Edelbrock 1409 marine 600 and simply remove that potential aggravation out of my boating adventure. The swap was pretty straight forward but it was not without a little diagnostics to get things to work properly. On my particular runabout installation the motor angle was steeper than on a cruiser and I decided to use a wedge, and from that moment on the boat ran perfectly. For more on how to do this installation and to see the issues I ran into, check out the following thread.
Edelbrock marine carbs are a bolt on replacement for many Chris Craft motors.

This site was originally started to serve a need to include photographs and scans within threads in mid-2005, and as a result, it has become "photo intensive" with a treasure trove of information. This site received 17,000 page reads during it's 4th month on line, and it could now surpass that in a few days. The forum is being accessed by people all over the world. If you're interested in Commanders or Chris Craft boats in general, be sure to visit the Chris Craft Commander Club ~~ and ~~ The Chris Craft Antique Boat Club sites too, because they each have a wealth of information, good people, and lots of social interaction. The Chris Craft Roamer Club is also a great source of information about our steel and aluminum close cousins who share a lot in common with the Commander series, both being built under the same roof.

From time to time the informative technical posts and photos are consolidated in the Master Index, and some of the chatting files are deleted, so people can find and use this information more easily. There are some really special threads here: of particular note, be sure to see Oliver & Sonja Oelgart's great thread about how they found a 41' Chris Craft in a German warehouse with only 12 hours on the hour meter! ~ Also be sure to see their web site for some absolutely STUNNING photography and photos of them touring the South of Spain after they restored this great boat. ~.~ Don't miss the tribute to Warren Pateman, a very special Commander owner from Australia, and the article he wrote about his total restoration and refitting of BAMBI, a 38' Commander.

A very big THANK YOU to Motor Boating Magazine, especially senior editor, John Clemans, and executive editor, Jeanne Craig; with whom your forum moderator worked on the feature 38' Chris Craft Commander article, appearing in the June, 2006 issue, of Motor Boating Magazine! ~*~ Here is another link showing John in action, the day some of the photos were taken for the article!
