Mercury trans needed

Thanx for your reply.
I am looking for a trans that is the large series to fit. I want to know what I can use. Are the trans from the 383 merc's also the large series? I know some of the merc's had pushbuttons,which I can't use due to them using a park release cable. Did the 1959-1961 Mercury use a cruiseomatic that didnt have a vacuum modulator? My trans uses the carb to trans rod,not vacuum modulator.
Sure appreciate any help! Tom
