I'm new, need some advice.....

Feel free to introduce yourself. No obligation off course, but a nice way to get known to you a little. It's allways good to know your first name. Jeff or John sounds better than, "hey linc58prm2_1......"

I'm new, need some advice.....

Post by Mark » Mon 19. Jul 2010, 18:41

Hi my name is Mark. I'm trying to figure out this forum...hope this is the right place for this. Anyway I am working on a 1962 430 out of a Lincoln Continental. I wish I found this forum sooner. Any help in finding parts and suppliers would be greatly appreciated. I drove the car, did a leakdown...bad results some holes 40%. Pulled engine taken apart. Crank is cracked found one @ Lincolnland, I need .030 over pistons and am not sure where to get them from, as some posts I've seen here talk about wrong dome(for lack of a better term) sizes for their application. Camshaft is worn out as well. I have found some usefull information here just trolling around but now I have joined and am hoping to get more. I liked the heavy duty oilpump drive shaft I saw on one post. I want a new oilpump but not a high pressure or high volume, any ideas? The nuts on the rod bolts are an odd size, I used a metric six point to get them off. I am concerned about not getting the correct pistons and don't want to loose too much compression w/modern/thick head gaskets.

Thanks so much, glad to be here,
Mark

Welcome to the forum Mark. You'll probably be able to figure a few solutions by reading some threads that relate to your questions in some way.I recommend reading the sticky piston toipic and also a few other topics here and there. Check out the shopping # numbers and recommendation section too.
Also keep in mind that it is good idea to narrow down questions to some point. It makes answering easier for readers.
Anyway, good to see you here. Let us know your rebuild status once in a while.
Best regards

Welcome Mark.

Melling sell an HV oil pump. It's available on many online shops or at Egge, Lincoln Land etc.

I found a new camshaft to OEM design by Falcon Global (on eBay). It was correct & the same one sold by Egge.

Cheers,
Reijer
