Response to This is getting a little ugly...

Tommy,

Nothing ugly or personal.

Just making a statement that all things being equal, the car with the lighter and less parasitic loss should win. We are all about going faster hear I thought, even in our street pieces.

I have several articles on this over the past 10 years. It used to be that it was expensive to build a C-4, reliabillity may have been an issue, but I know I have an article somewhere in the last 5 years or so where a trans company built both, cost was similar, put both trannys in the same car, detailed weight and the parasitic losses of both trannys. This isn't something I think, or made up. Just like you can now build decent horsepower alot cheaper with an FE then before, the times have changed and it isn't brand new news either.

I personally felt from articles written and the power figgures that some of these supercharged 5.0s are running, and the fact that a C-4 can be done as cheaply, plus the fact that I can't think of a drag racing venue that anyone is competively into a quick car that can use either that runs a C-6 anymore, that my recomendation has merit.

I run a stick on anything that I have that is fast. My bike has nitrous, back cut trans gears, ignition interrupt and an air shifter. When I get my new cammer finished, it will be manual with pneumatic assist and ignition interupt. So I have no love or special warm feeling for one slush box over the other.

I felt, and still do that for putting arround with an underdriven 6-71 huffed, mild 390 that isn't going to be used to pull a 32' camper or turn 7 foot tires that the C-4 fits the bill that's my opinion, and I think actual modern drag racing proves that point. Nothing more nothing less, and not trying to be hateful.

As to the orriginal post from the new guy and the other he has made, I knew of two of the timing chain ofset distributor drive settups locally and the same guy had a small roots style 6/71 to 8/71 medium riser manifold. If you are really interested, I could put some feallers out as to what happened with that stuff, but if it can still be had, I wouldn't expect anything cheap.

Roger
