Response to 57 MEL thats a new one by me

The 410 was scheduled for 1957 model year release and was to be the 57 MERC TPC engine (LINC 368 used as a replacement). They experienced casting problems and actual introduction was the 1958 model run. The 410 then went to the ESEL as it also was an early production (JUN 57) but released as a 1958 model.

You will find the early engines had a multitude of defects from the factory and most were not corrected until DEC 1957 production. There is a plethora of service bulletins on service upgrades for the engines to that point.
