Response to 430 engine swap

 

The only engine one would consider for this swap would be a 460. It has been done, but frame rails have to be modified (usually) to clear the exhaust manifolds. The easiest (and cheapest) way is to reseal the 430 (once determined if healthy (compressional and oil pressure test) while it is out. Parts are not that hard to come by.

As for speed parts, very little is available as the lowered hood line of the 61/ LINC will not even allow the higher (carb mounting pad-more direct runners) 4V intake manifold as used on the 58/59 MEL. You can have the camshaft reground, upgrade the carburetion and install electronic ignition. Just these will make a world of difference.
