Multi Carb manifolds

Post by Chris Craft crazy » Mon 21. Feb 2011, 18:44

Theo, you can move this thread around if you like. This seemed like the place to put archival pictures of MEL multi carb manifolds.

First, the original Marauder manifold. Correct me if I am wrong, but these manifolds were cast for FoMoCo by Moon.

Another one. This is the Edelbrock L300, Edelbrock's answer to the original Marauder manifold. Note that it is not drilled for Holley 2300's.

Nice compilation. Is the last manifold slightly off set or is it just a matter of how it was photographed?
Best regards

All right, I see. The FE sidewinder manifold sprang into mind when I suspected it to slightly off ;)

Not sure where to put these photos, but this is an engine that was recently sold on ebay... $5500 US complete and rebuilt if I remember. That's a reasonable price all in all. I have not seen these water cooled manifolds before, I have Edelbrocks, but these are not Edelbrock. This engine was built for a drag boat project, so it is a marine marauder complete with the car air cleaner.

Here's some pics of some of the aftermarket speed equipment that was originally available for the MEL. These come from the 1960 Almquist speed equipment catalog I just got. The catalog is 115 pages and these are all I could find !! Also note that the 8x2 Weiand Drag Star log intake is only offered for Chrysler and MEL, making it quite rare. Even back in the day, MEL speed parts were limited and priced at a premium.

That is cool.

I have the Weiand 6-71 intake for my Blown Mel project. Never knew it was a "Typhoon"

Notice it's price compared to more popular models
