OPERATION "REMOVE CARBURETOR"

Despite the notice I received on my car saying I couldn't "perform maintenance of any kind" on my car, I snuck out at about noon today to take the carb off. Using my stealth and ninja like quickness, I swiftly removed the carb undetected and started the rebuild. Here's the beginning of the rebuild, taking apart the carb and preparing to put her back together again. May the force be with me in getting the carb back on the car...

Just got done cleaning the carburetor. It's now 12:45 am, Saturday, and I'm ready to put her back together again. Stay tuned for more video of my progress. Would love to hear your thoughts, and if I'm on the right track. I hear these carb rebuilds can be tricky.

Three hours later and all the pieces are finally in place. Not too bad for having never done this. The measurements were a challenge, but overall looks pretty good, hope it operates just the same. Waiting on a new battery, and will be out testing...

Starting up the Lincoln for the first time after rebuilding the carburetor. Considering this is my first rebuild, I'm happy to say that the leak is gone, and that the rebuild was a success. With the exception of adjusting the choke, she's idling and running strong. I also got to drive around the parking lot and to our spot under the condo. Still need to get the brakes done, but the emergency brake worked fine. Here's my dad and I firing it up after putting it back on the motor...

Starting the Lincoln up on the second day after rebuilding the carb. Discovered a problem when pumping the gas. If you listen close you can hear the motor die out. I'm thinking it's a problem with the choke, but will diagnose more soon. Would love to hear your thoughts, or if you might have experienced the same thing. The good news is I was able to park her in our parking spot, so hopefully no more notices...

With the engine shut off, look down into the throats of the carburetor and pull the throttle back . You should see a squirt of fuel injecting into each barrel, if not you have a problem with your accelerator pump circuit .Did you have compressed air to blow out passages ? Are check valves in place and free? If you do have a good shot of fuel every time you crack the throttle it may be that you don't have enough choke richness. If that is the case it will run fine after reaching operating temp.

Yes, that's what I thought about in the first place. Did you replace the rubber diaphragm of the accelerator pump? It comes with the kit. Also check the idle speed adjusting screw and set it so that the engine RPM idles according to the recommended idle speed.
