1958 Park Lane Phaeton, ID, Parts and Interchange question

Post by Dozer430 » Mon 22. Oct 2012, 06:56

Looks like it isn't easy finding parts cars for the 58 Park Lane but I did locate one. Does anybody know what is interchangable off the Montereys and Montclairs? From what it looks like I have a longer roof and trunk.
We had a car show yesterday at Johnsville Naval Base In PA and the MELs made a good Representation.

Hi, I'm hoping I could get a little help decoding my VIN off the title. I can't find any info online to explain it. I Should have the 430 ci engine with 4 barrel carb. iF it was a tripower super marauder it woud be a J code. Ok, What code should it be with the 4 barrel? may VIN is k8wg525984 Ive got body, trim color figured out but I'm guessing K is the code for the engine. Can't seem to find any info to verify. I have other numbers off vin plate and engine if it helps. Thanks

K=430 cu in.
8=Model Year
W= Assembly Plant (Wayne)
G=Body Type (Parklane Coupe/Sedan)
525984= consecutive unit number

If you have the other numbers for the plate I'll be happy to decode it for you.

Thanks for the rapid response. Ive been on the net for weeks trying to find that info. My next search will be to find out how early in the year the engine was built. Theres some good info on the forum so I'm hoping I'm not going to have as much trouble.

Hello Bill,

I'm sorry but could you please take a photo of the Patent plate. The numbers / letters do not sound correct. Just want to do my best to get you the correct info.

63C = Parklane Phaeton Coupe (1958 only)
74507 = Two Tone Upper and Lower Body Area Marble White, paint code 07 , while the roof and projectile areas are in contrast, Flamingo Red paint code 45. The prefix number 7 denotes that the projectile area is in contrast to the surrounding body color.
Trim = ?

Thank you for your research. The body is marble white and it looks like the roof and projectile area are flamingo red although they have faded to what looks more like A rose or oxided mauve color. I will get some pictures off in a few day when I pick up the car and bring it home. Thanks again, Bill
