What picture will you use for the center fold??

Hi, I am doing a similar project to my 59 Commuter Wagon. I have sanded and painted the frame with POR 15. I have ground all the undercoating off and am now about to paint it. I am considering painting the underside the same color as the car (white). I am still undecided about that. I am looking for a tailgate, windshield door seals, carpet, seat covers, and shift selector indicator. The bottom of my tailgate is rusted. I can cut it off and replace it but I cannot find anyone who can put the ribs in for me. Any suggestions?

Very nice restoration. Not entirely correct, but very nice. As with most restored cars, people tend to over-restore and detail to the tenth degree. For instance, the insulation on your hood was "sandwiched" between the inner and outer sheet metal as the hood was being pressed together prior to any painting process. Therefore, after the hood was painted, the insulation got the same amount of white coats of paint as the metal, therefore it should be stained white. I happen to be restoring a 58 Edsel (see my folder) and although my car will no doubt be nicer than it was originally built, I'm trying to make it the most accurately restored Edsel by not over-detailing it. Don't missunderstand me, most guys do it exactly the way you're doing it and that's the way they look the prettiest. The problem is, when uneducated observers look at a restoration, such as yours, they then believe that this is the way these cars were produced when new, which is not the case. If FOMOCO or any other manufacturer would have built these cars as most of us restore them they only would have been able to produce a couple hundred a year.
