Hello all.

Recently purchased a 1967 Lincoln Continental Convertible that needs a bit (cough, cough) of work. First car project. Think it'll get interesting. Same story as most, I'm sure, not enough $$, not enough space, and not enough tools, and too ignorant to be scared.

Welcome. So how much work does it need; total resto or just a bit of TLC? Restoring these cars will get very expensive very quickly. The best advice I've heard is to buy the best car you can afford that suits your purpose.

If I wanted easy, mustang was the way to go. Somehow, the Linc was a bit more appealing.

Haven't yet decided how far to take it. As far as where it is at, well, all the pieces are there.

Body is straight and solid, with the exception of the passenger side floor, which will need attention - and the flippy trunk lid piece (wavy). That said, the doors work well - no sag when they open.

Top needs attention, but functions - up and down, with a bit of effort, and a little help now and again.

Paint needs done.

Interior needs done.

Powertrain is all there, but the top end is off. PO had head work done.

Was a runner 8 years ago, PO had it sitting after mechanical difficulties (claimed bent valve), never got back to it.

Scary part for me is the wiring (holy crap), as I'm not too confident in 40 year old wires and connectors....

Haven't had a chance to get at it just yet - have to get a yard project done (pergola over the patio) for wifey.....we'll really see what we have once it gets deconstructed and blasted.....
