Feel free to introduce yourself. No obligation off course, but a nice way to get known to you a little. It's allways good to know your first name. Jeff or John sounds better than, "hey linc58prm2_1......"

Contemporary cars have black, grey, beige or white interiors. There is something to be said for being able to order a car with a pink chrome-laden interior & gold coloured air filter housing and valve covers.

The air cleaner/rocker cover color (gold) designates a 430, where as red a 383 and green a 312.

I sold a pair of green valve covers on e bay a few years ago. They had the word F O R D embossed on them. I can't remember where they came from. Did they belong to an Edsel or do the Edsel covers say E D S E L on top?
Best regards

58 Edsels had E-400 on the 361-FE motor and E-475 on the 410-MEL motor valve covers
59 Edsels with the 332,361 FE motors had "bald" valve covers
60 edsels with the 352 FE motor also had "bald" valve covers
58-64 ford with the 332,352,390 FE motors used valve covers with F O R D on them
58-60 T-bird with 352 FE motors used valve covers with F O R D on them
59-60 T-bird with 430 MEL motors used valve covers that were "bald"
61-64 T-bird with 390 FE motors used valve covers that had Thunderbird on them
61-62 Mercury with 352,390 FE motors used valve covers with F O R D on them and were GREEN
63-64 mercury with 390 FE motors used valve covers that had Mercury on them

Note: the Edsel "bald" valve covers are getting hard to find because people chrome them and use them on the 406-427 FE

Mercury had four colors for valve covers/air cleaners in 1959
Green for 312
Turquoise for 383-2V
red for 383-4V
gold for 430-4V

That's great info Jim. Now, if we had photos of these various covers I would set up a nice photo gallerie and post it in the MEL Engine Data Base and in the photo section.
BTW. I would be pleased if you could repost your last two posts about the covers in the MNEL Engine Data Base? They would be great info there too.
Best regards

Do you think it could be that MERC used FORD (GR) on the 61/62 352 and MERCURY (GO) on the 61/62 390/406 as did FORD using FORD (BL) on the 352 and THUNDERBIRD (GO) on the 390/406 (same time period)?

Hello,

I have the "mechanics" pin that you were inquiring about. I'm currently looking for the "salesman" pin. Has anyone out there ever seen one??
