MEL aluminum Valley cover project proposal

Post by 56vicky430 » Wed 12. Aug 2009, 18:57

Hey all! I have been talking with the people that run what is now the modern day version of Eelco. They say that they can recast a new custom aluminum MEL valley cover, just like the old ones with the fins, for $70 each if 10 people will buy one. I dug out an old Moon catalog and even though they show a part number for such a cover, the new Moon company says they have never had any. Who knows where the molds went to....probably to a landfill years ago. I can supply a cover from a 58. I don't know what the best resolution for a PCV would be. I don't know if a 61 up cover should be used or if the covers should just be cast solid. For just a $700 cash outlay, I'm tempted to fund it all myself and run the spares on ebay, but that would not be right. If you want in on this, let me know.

OK, that looks like the total is 7. I'm going to email the maker and tell him what we have going. He may go ahead and do it. The "new" Eelco company is pretty well known on the HAMB forum. As long as he can give me a time window for making them it will be OK.

Is this still in the planning stage or has it gone to production? Either way I would be intersted.
