Hilborn fuel injection system for a 430

Post by Chris Craft crazy » Sat 23. Jan 2010, 09:17

Hilborn made this system, and by all accounts a very rare system. Hilborn was in the business of making early fuel injection systems for a lot of engines... this one came up on ebay, so I saved the photos. This one needs to be rebuilt, has no pump and associated stuff, but is otherwise complete from my unfamiliar eyes

Fuel injection systems are a considerable solution in some instances. Some were made out of Magnesium which is lighter than aluminium but also inflamable I think, not sure.. I found an old 1995 Hilborn catalog in my shelf. See the Ford prizes at the bottom right side of the listing. It's not actual off course but might give an impression of what prize you're looking at for those snorkels.

I have the manifolds and injectors. Still gathering other parts. The pumps are still around. Not too tough to find. Brackets have to be fabricated. Hoses and linkage can be purchased from Hilborn.
I will probably put it in a boat. Maybe this summer. The hilborns really don't work well on street cars. I will get the engine running well with a carb set up first. TJR

You will have noticed how easily the 430 lends itelf to custom intake fabrication...!!!
probably the easiest of any engine out there.
Look tthe intake runner config.
wide spaced no interference from vally cover valve cover etc.
VERY nice
