My lincoln recently started to skip 2nd gear, it goes from 1st to 3rd no 2nd. What could be wrong with it? Thanks.

2nd band could be burned up, so it shifts to second but it won't carry torque then on to third.

Does it manually 3-2 downshift?

My 64 has the 3 speed turbo drive and it starts out in 2nd gear in the drive position then shifts to 3rd. The only way you start in first is if you drop it down into it then you have to shift up manually.
