1959 Mercury Colony Park Tranny Color

Post by Shelby#18 » Fri 17. Apr 2009, 14:29

My Colony Park is currently undergoing a ground up restoration. My question; is the body of the transmission supposed to be black? I've heard the bell housing was bare , body was black, and the tailshaft was bare aluminum. It's a Cruise-O-Matic behind an 430 cu in..
Any help would be appreciated.

All the best...
Rick

Hmm...

Does you main case show paint wear? I have a photo of a 59 BIRD MX takeout that appears to be natural and a 58/60 TWIN-TURBO that appears to have paint.

Interesting question.

I just came across a saved photo of a 60 JBIRD 430 MX overhaul that shows a natural main case and a painted bell-

...great... Now I can't find it. I will be back...
