Hot Rod East Race 2010 in Finsterwalde Germany
Hi everybody.
check out these videos that I took at the event mentioned above. It all started about 13 or 14 years ago. Just a few Berlin and eastern area greasers managed to rent a reasonably prized tiny old "Wehrmacht" runway for a day or two. Today it has become a lot bigger, but as you can see on the videos, the crowd is still small compared to the big commercial race events. But that's what I love about this event. It's a family week end, where you meet a lot of your acquaintances and other local red necks. Meanwhile there is a good portion of hot rodders coming from other areas of Germany and also from Scandinavia and other countries. There was a cool bunch from the Czech Republic that I got known with. I bought a pair of U.S. Air Force Chinos from one of those guys. They also brought in some very cool vehicles. As usual, the Swedish ambassadors where not only successfully racing but also, ...well,..extremely successful in surviving mega strong boozin' that usually would have killed the complete near by village of Finsterwalde
The rules are simple. No cars younger than 1958. That's all. There was a killer funny car w. a blower that got banned for the simple reason, that the track and the security level was not prepared to handle cars of that caliber. The owner who hauled it from Hamburg was not very amused.
Just for you guys in the states, lemme describe the spot. The Polish boarder is about 150 -200 miles away. The Czech Republic isn't that far away either and Germany's Saxony that I consider to be a different country (;)) is very close too
