Possible new source for 410 430 462 pistons?

Post by edselman » Fri 26. Nov 2010, 00:46

Just found an outfit on Feebay that is offering OEM style pistons for the MEL Engines. I sent a question to them asking for pics of the pistons. He said they would be correct for the particular year and engine . The current listing is 380290097771,carmarketpro. Has anyone bought any of these yet? Tom

These are flat top pistons. No humb or dome on top. They're not correct and off course not OEM.
Check out this thread for elaborate discussion and pics on original piston design.

Never trust any promises unless you see what they got. Even photos are just not actual, not representative. I can't say anything about them. They might stock MEL engine parts but on the pistons I doubt that they have the correct domed OEM pistons. Maybe you should call them up.
Good luck

The Falcon global stuff is mostly chinese, and the pistons are flat tops.

Carmarket pro is a bunch of morons. I asked them a question about specific details on the "pistons" they offered for 430's. They said let me check with my supplier. Never got back to me because it is the wrong casting junk. Don't waste your time. Unfortunetly we are all in love with a obsolete rare motor that nobody else likes. The aftermarket doesn't support it. You need to get custom pistons. It has been done here before. Search it. Wish I could tell you different. Don't believe those idiots.

Like Vanscooter said. Do a search in this forum and read closely what our participants have come up with. You ain't gonna find better information on this topic than here.
Do yourself a favor and go through those piston threads in this forum. It will educate you good enough to be familiar w. what and how to get the correct pistons. You will have a lot more knowledge on MEL pistons and specs. than any sales rep of almost any engine parts vendor out there.
The gentlemen in this forum who've successfully ordered custom specs. pistons will be happy to help you once you ask them for assistance. However, most participants in this forum have a real life and drop in only occasionally. You need to be a little patient on responds but it pays.
Good luck

True, true.
I made a mockup of what I wanted out of a 383 piston so I could say make this.
Just because no one at that time spoke MEL, not even occasionally.
