Yes, I'm interested in the specs. too. I have an old Dyno 2000 software that is good for any rough estimation. I could post the results as screen shots.

I'm having the motor Blue Printed at this time. I will post as much info as soon as it is available. ;)

Here is a question: Was there EVER an MEL engine with flat top pistons? or was that a rebuild/aftermarket mistake?

Does anybody have any dyno numbers to show the difference between flat top pistons and original style pistons? I'm trying to justify spending over $1000 for wiseco to make a set. Thanks for your input.

Generally speakin', the flat top pistons will produce a lot less compression. Unless you're shooting for a lame duck, that's not what you really want.
On the other hand flat tops could work fine to a certain extend and you wouldn't have to bother too much with fuel octane quality.
If fuel consumption and proper compression and performance is not your concern, flat top pistons could be an option.
However my thoughts apply to a week end cruiser or a trailer queen. If you want to race, forget what I said above.

In the process of assembling the appropriate measurements for my custom pistons, I asked my dad to come up with a diagram that would be useful, and typically, he came through in spades.. Thought you guys might be interested.

Once the deck height is established on the intake and exhaust side, and the other relevant measurement are there, here is a spread sheet that will help determine not only the size of the combustion chamber, but also the compression ratio of the engine. Brilliant. I can not determine based on the step size exactly what the change is in compression ratio, and order accordingly. Thanks Dad!

Nice drawing. The piston manufacturers have computer programs that calculate all these things in milliseconds. Do you have the figures at home? Intake side block height and exh. side block head etc.? We might work out a formula to math it out. Just for fun.
