Welcome to the forum "broypratt". If some folk tries to convince you on s.th. but can't be specific, so why you listen or even care?
This Forum is about restoring those orig. MEL engines and not about trashing them.
If you still want to swap the engine in favour of an other one, then consider adding it in our classifieds section.
However I recommend to restore the engine instead tearing a family apart.
Just my two cents.

You're entirely welcome to ask as much as you want. Hopefully we can help you on some issues here and there. Engine restoration can get cost intensive and you need a lot of patience especially if you're on a budget. There will be many periods of delay in your process, depending on your financial situation. I've been there myself. Don't expect miracles in a short time. The most important thing you should keep in mind is to gather as much information as possible before you start shopping or talking to machine shops or engine builder.
Once in a while let us know more about your vessel, its' condition, motor, pics, problems etc.

Among my first matchbox cars was this 66 Lincoln Limo and a Jaguar MK 2. I was 8 years old and ever since thought that these two cars were masterpieces. Little I knew that I would rum a MEL Forum one day. Live can be mysterious ;)

Classic car preferences aside - the only practical benefit of a 460 are the cheaper & more easily available (speed) parts. But a 5000 lbs. car will always be a 5000 lbs. car... even with a heavily modified 460.

But.... a 460 will not just bolt into '66 Continental - it takes customization of the 'frame' rails, drive line, exhaust system and transmission hump. It can & has been done but not by the average classic car guy. It will cost you an amount of money equal to or above the cost of two completely rebuilt MEL 462's.

I believe it's much easier to bolt a 460 into a '68 Continental as they changed from MEL 462 to 460 in the middle of the production year. :ugeek:

Oh and welcome to the forum. :) Here's my 462 rebuild story: viewtopic.php?f=42&t=22
