I was wondering if anyone knows if the original thin metal head gaskets are available. Recently I did find a set on "the Bay".
Would like to find another set for my 410 engine. Is there a risk of piston to valve contact in using these in my edsel 410 with the early higher lift cam ? Tom
430 thin head gaskets
Re: 430 thin head gaskets
You have to be very careful here, especially on the 410 (was first MEL produced) as MEL had to lower CR on early 1958 production due to pre-ignition/detonation. There was a new service block(s) released with a higher deck/changed to 383 heads with smaller valves and I am fairly sure the 410 was assembled with stacked (2) head gaskets. You need to check valve clearances very carefully if modifying.edselman wrote:
