MEL Exhaust Manifold Gaskets

The factory Exhaust Manifold Gaskets on a 430 were made of thin steel.

Here is a set of Fitzgerald Factory design Gaskets. There are several things to note. Most important is the sealing channel embossed around each port. Second is the material that seals the choke stove plate.

Remflex 3038-2
Remflex is a quality gasket however there is no provision for the choke stove gasket.

Mercury 383 / 6.3L (1958 - 1960)

Suggested Torque: 20 Ft Lbs
1.) DO NOT BEND! Remflex gaskets are designed to withstand clamping force and incredible heat, but not bending. If you bend them, they will break!

2.) Do not over tighten. When properly installed the flange should be tightened evenly - See the suggested torque range.

3.) Longer bolts aren't necessary. Though Remflex are thicker than other gaskets, standard length bolts will work fine.

4.) Do not use sealers. Silicone and other sealers cannot withstand the same temperature as Remflex gaskets, and can actually cause leaks.

In addition I recommend insulated sleeves over each plug wire for additional heat protection
