MEL 430 in Race Boats

Post by Chris Craft crazy » Tue 12. Oct 2010, 09:08

I'll have a go...

First, some marine stuff. Bill Stroppe, who worked on Ford racing used 430 lincolns in various race boats. There are legends of various custom parts being used on these 430 engines, including fuel injection, double quad intakes, Isky custom cams, etc.

Notably, the 1960 Miami to Nassau race that was won by Bertram, featuring a wooden 30 foot prototype named "Moppie" designed by Ray Hunt, was powered by lincoln 430 marine conversions.

I have yet to find ANY photos of vintage drag boats.
MEL Marine division... and if you thought MEL car parts were scarce....
