Re: Damage To 430 Cylinder Wall What to DO?!

As long as there are no scratches up and down the inside of the cylinder it should be OK, in my opinion. I have seen a lot worse used with no problems. Only the tip of the piston skirt is protruding, and only at the bottom of the stroke when there are almost no side thrusts exerted on the piston. Wh...

Re: 430 Crank without PS drive?

I had a timing cover on a 383 without the pump, it also had a different adapter sleeve on the crankshaft . That engine came from a '58 Mercury. I assume that car must have come without power steering. I have also gutted the internals from the pump and run just the housing with success.

Re: C6 doesn´t shift right...........

Sounds like you have a vacuum leak to the vacuum modulator. The line runs from the left side of the intake manifold to the right rear of the transmission . I think you will find a ruptured hose or one that fell off. While you are at it make sure there is no transmission fluid in the hose or line. Th...

Re: Very weak 430

Check your fuel supply to the carb, if you haven't already done so . Check for volume with a hose attached to the fuel line dumping into a container, being careful not to spill. If that checks out, pop the distributor cap . Their are two advances ,a centrifugal which you can preliminary check by seei...

Re: edc 9425 a 410 e475 manifold

The manifold may actually be marked EDG ,which would be a 383 designation of the same exact manifold . They may have came that way from the factory. As far as the leak goes, on the lower side of the intake manifold there are expansion plugs that rust out and start leaking . You will have to pull the...

Re: 1965 430 MEL missing slightly

Look for a vacuum leak . Carefully use a small amount of a combustible spray such as brake cleaner, WD40 ,or choke cleaner around that manifold runner and see if it smooths out. If their are any vacuum ports on that runner, disconnect any hoses and plug that port. I assume you found the suspect cyli...

Re: My 62 Lincoln Continental

With the engine shut off, look down into the throats of the carburetor and pull the throttle back . You should see a squirt of fuel injecting into each barrel, if not you have a problem with your accelerator pump circuit .Did you have compressed air to blow out passages ? Are check valves in place a...

Re: My 62 Lincoln Continental

Part #2063 is a vacuum reservoir ,meant to stabilize vacuum within the system. The other part you asked about is a rubber boot that is used with manual brakes but not with a booster. Most kits for rebuilding anything come with extra parts because they are packaged to fit several different vehicles o...

Re: My 62 Lincoln Continental

There are no cylinders in the brake booster ,I would not mess with the booster until you get the hydraulic system bled out and try it out. I see from the reference picture it is a piston type booster, but all it does is help you push the pedal with the engine running. It has nothing to do with the h...

Re: My 62 Lincoln Continental

The sound you are hearing is normal, and a good sign. The system uses vacuum from the engine to assist you to apply the brake. When you pump your brake pedal the large diaphragm acts like a pump and pumps air into the vacuum lines.Bleeding brakes can be frustrating and tricky. First of all take out ...
