Re: ENGINE HORSEPOWER

SUPER MARAUDER Rated HP The actual SUPER MARAUDER (1958) was rated at 400HP. Now whether that was rated HP or dyno HP who knows. The engine also had larger heads, valves and CR than your 61 LINC (2V with restricted cylinder heads). This is just guessing on my part, but if someone was to take an orig...

Re: '58 Edsel's 361 (303 HP) Factory Claim Vs. Real Dyno Res

 IMPRESSIVE RESEARCH! Being as the 58 EDSEL had an early introduction, I wonder if 361 assembly began before 332/352 assembly? Also, the E-475 (410 MEL) was meant for 1957 MERC TPC installation but casting troubles held it's release until later (early 1958 EDSEL release). The 1957 TPC receive...

Re: MEL Roller Cam Installation Warning.

Block Thermostats Update 65/72 LINC-MERC MPC The use of the block thermostats was discontinued in the 1963 model year. The notation is under PN C3VY 6009-B (cylinder assembly). They are no longer available for service and the particpants at the LCOC Board have not noticed any changes in performance...

MEL Roller Cam Installation Warning.

This E-Mail was received by me from a friend with a 58 MERC 430 MARAUDER Engine; "Thought I would write and share with you something I would have never thought about being a problem with putting a roller cam in a 430. I tore into my 430 (again) to replace the roller lifter locking bars with some tha...

Re: Engine decoding Please help

Does the code appear similiar and in the same location as this photo? Broken link to photo (Kultulz can you edit?) The ENGINE DATE CODE (time of casting) is explained in LINC/MERC 1958 Service Bulletin No. 8. J4 94YY The first character is the Foundry Plant... I believe yours starts with the 4, not ...

Re: MEL port height x width ?

Not Given In Spec Sheet...
But you need the size from 58/59 as they were the only performance years. 1960 saw economy engines.
Someone needs to measure a few different sets. Will valve size help?
