Decipher Your Radiator's Build Date
For anyone else interested, I thought this was a cool chart to decipher your radiator's build date. My observation on the few that I have checked is that they were built in the same month as the car's build date and not several months in advance like the engine or engine components were. rad codes.J...

AC Vs. Non AC Water Pump of 1958 Lincoln
Image of an early 1958 water pump, from the 1958 Advance Service Manual for Lincoln (printed Sept. 1957). Note the square plugs which are absent on later designs. I've been searching for an early 58 pump for my restoration and have learned the difference between A/C and non-A/C water pumps was the s...

Re: can anyone help me with these 430 lincoln #'s
Generally, EDG = 383 (Mercury) EDH = 410 (Edsel) EDJ = 430 (Mercury / Lincoln) although some parts interchange among engines. For example, the intake numbers, although technically coded for Mercury, are the same as commonly found on 1958 Lincoln engines- at the least the ones I have. The pistons do ...

Re: MEL Engine Unique Cooling System
I thought someone installed the block thermostats in my 1958 backwards, but then I found this bulletin indicating the factory made a change in 1958 and flipped them around. An interesting fact if you have a 1958 but obsolete.

Early 1958 Water Pump
Anyone have an early 1958 430 water pump core? My 1958 Continental's was replaced at some point with a 1959 casting for an A/C car. Looking to go back to the correct casting for non-A/C. From what I've been told, the correct casting # should be CA-EDF-8505-A. Preferable date code is July-Sept 1957 (...
