Re: 430 Super Marauder

Thanks for your additions. I think it's fair to say that you and your '58 Merc have been instrumental in reviving interest in the Super Marauder. It seems that most of the setups wound up in racing hands and/or ended up being modified or crashed and forgotten about. They are still out there and can ...

Re: Distributor Advance and Pinging & Overheating

Maybe try higher octane gas or an octane booster and see what sort of results you get. If you only drive it occasionally that may be an economical solution to the problem.

Re: Distributor Advance and Pinging & Overheating

$600 no. I paid around $100. I guess the basic units are no longer made, but here's a NOS one for $35- a steal.

Re: Distributor Advance and Pinging & Overheating

Had the same problem on my '64 Rambler I used to have as a daily driver with major freeway driving. I used to retard the timing before long highway trips. When I got tired of doing that I found an engine knock eliminator that did the same thing electronically when it sensed a ping from the engine. I...

Re: Building a 1960 Mercury Park Lane convertible

On the transmission mount, I would check with Dale in Oregon. He has been rebuilding harmonic balancers for 35 years, including other rubber and silicone castings. I have used him many times and trust his work which is backed up by a lifetime warranty. He should be able to tell you who can rebuild t...

Re: Building a 1960 Mercury Park Lane convertible

Very interesting project you are working on. I have never seen a 1960 Mercury Park Lane convertible, only a couple coupes and sedans here in California. The front and rear remind me of the 1960 Eldordo Seville- one of my favorite cars, and I think the Heather color will look great on your car. 60-Ca...

Re: 1958-60 MEL exhaust manifolds

You can also, sometimes, find header flanges for sale on Ebay. There is a guy who specializes in selling CNC header flanges on ebay and occasionally offers some for the MEL. There is also a fellow by the name of Brian Estrada who has custom-made Lincoln-style exhaust logs in the past. You can search...
