1959 Merc 430 rebuilt engine
I have a 59 Merc 430 that I had engine hot tanked, crank turned .010" bored .030". I had intended to use it in a 58 Edsel. I decided later to use the original Edsel engine instead. The block is painted Edsel green. The pistons I installed are the flat tops. Engine has no cam or heads. It does have ne...

Re: 58 410 valve noise
Upon further checks on the 410,it seems that I am experiencing lifter bleed down. More noticable when its' hot. The engine oil I have in it is Brad Penn 30w breakin oil. Would I benefit any by using 20w50 once the engine is sufficiently broke in? I don't relish having to change both cam and lifters...

58 410 valve noise
I haven't posted in sometime. I finally got my 58 edsel running. I had the 410 engine rebuilt, and installed a set of 59 Merc 430 cylinder heads. I had my original cam reground by Oregon Cam to a 1970 429 Super cobra jet grind, with lift of .498 accounting for the 1.73 rocker ratio. The issue I am exp...

Possible new source for 410 430 462 pistons?
Just found an outfit on Feebay that is offering OEM style pistons for the MEL Engines. I sent a question to them asking for pics of the pistons. He said they would be correct for the particular year and engine . The current listing is 380290097771,carmarketpro. Has anyone bought any of these yet? Tom

Re: Used .020 pistons for sale
Hi,
Are these pistons the flat top aftermarket design? I need a set of .020 over but would like to use the original design piston. Tom

Re: Looking for advice on replacing rear main seal on 410 Ed
Paul,
I have been told this is a better seal than the rope. Unfortunately,it's no longer available. The part number is BS30141 . Tom

430 rear main 2 piece seal kit needed
Seems that the 2 piece rubber seal kit for the 410/430 have been discontinued. Wondered if anyone in group may have a seal kit that they would be willing to part with. The Fel pro number is BS30141 . Tom

Re: 59 430 heads on 410 Edsel help
No,I didn't think I had to do any changes to the valve springs. I'm gaining about .060" valve lift. Is that enough to create coil bind ? I'll have to look at that.
thanx for your info. Tom
