I used a FE, 390 ford manual bellhousing and then a 1" spacer plate that adapts the transmission to the FE bellhousing. works very nice and not suoer expensive either.

What is the weight of a complete 430 with out the transmission

I put a 59 430 Lincoln in my 1937 ford coupe. It has a FE bellhousing and adapter to fit the 1995 Mustang T5 manual transmission. It will be street driven only. I have has it running to break in the reground cam(1969 428 CJ specs hydraulic). I do have a 6x2 weiand intake to install at a later date.

The early 383-410-430 cams were equipped with camshaft bearings all the same size.(2.265") The later 430 and all 462 engines had larger bearing journals , will not interchange.
I, of course, found out the hard way....

sounds like the carb ports are set so that one is engine vacuum, the other is ported vacuum. in other words, the one that makes the engine seem to rum smoother is engine vacuum, the other has vacuum only when the throttle is opened.
