Re: Mercury Edsel Lincoln 410 430 462 EFI fuel injection

That's cool! The fuel pump removed from the top of the timing cover is a nice touch and would clean the front of the engine up nicely. I wonder if they only include the intake manifold for 2 barrel cars. Those FAST systems should just bolt right to the carb flange on the 4 barrel cars.

Re: 430 MEL has touble starting

Is your choke not opening all the way? This happened to me with a motorcycle that had a sticking choke cable. 750 CFM might also be too big of a carb for your 430. My 65 Lincoln runs an Edelbrock 1406 (elec choke 600 CFM) and it runs great. These engines don't really rev high enough (at least in a L...

Re: 1960 Mel Rebuild Question

Hi Nick, My MPC says that bolt should be 5/8"-18 x 1 7/8" long. There's also a washer but I'm not sure how thick it is (1/16, maybe?). I'd be afraid of the balancer shifting if it isn't snugged up against the PS pump, though. Did you send your PS pump out to get rebuilt? If you did, is it possible t...

Re: 430 mel and ford truck parts interchange??

I'm guessing the crank won't fit. Bore spacing on a 430 is 4.9" and it looks like it's 5.25" on the super duty.

I found this post from a while back:

Re: Tips for sending heads to the machine shop?

The place I was planning to take the heads couldn't do cast iron welding, so I took them up to a place on the other side of the state on my way to see family. 2 weeks later and here's what I got: http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8096/8462659911_2e6f98510c_b.jpg http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8087/846266...

Re: Tips for sending heads to the machine shop?

Okay, I finally was able to get to my shop and get some better pictures of the heads. Here's the pic of the crack from the top: 8387744405_2c36831926_b.jpg From the front: 8387745829_02ed4c8058_b.jpg It looks like the whole surface will need to be built up in some spots and resurfaced: 8387747311_b7...

Tips for sending heads to the machine shop?

Hi everyone, I disassembled a set of heads out of a 64 that I'm planning to send to the machine shop when I found a couple problems. I've never really worked with a machine shop, so I don't know what exactly to have done. Right now, I was just thinking getting them cleaned, new valve seats, and the ...

Re: MEL Moon Polished finned Valvecovers

Who at Mooneyes have you guys been working with? I thought I was on the list for these but didn't get any email with instructions on how to pay or pics.

-Edit: Nevermind. Just got an email from Chico. I guess his emails have been getting caught in my spam trap.

Thanks for the info, Reijer! I'll be spending a lot of time in the shop over christmas weekend (my little present to myself).
