Thanks guys, I know it's been a long time since I posted, still got the car, I've been delayed slightly buy my purchase of a "new" house which was built in '36 that's been occupying my time, however I've got some updates to share with all of you.

sorry I haven't posted, however I've been busy. got the engine all apart, cleaned, painted & am assembling this week. I'll post pics when I get home tonight of what I've been up to.

that's what I figured once I pulled the cylinder heads off and saw the openings. I was guessing the diverters should be angled towards the heads so the water flow is directly aimed at the cylinder head openings. that sound about right?

I was talking about the diverters themselves. mine did come with the same cooling setup as your 430. the thermostats had already been removed sometime before so I'm just going to leave those out but my diverters are toast, all crumbly and falling apart. couple questions about water diverters
I'm rebuilding the engine for a 58 edsel and got a couple questions. The engine I'm tearing down is a original 58 E475, yet it had diverters in it rather than the factory thermostats, however the diverters are far from reusable and I've read that the factory thermostats are really not reccomended so...

Falling trunklid problem
My trunklid won't "pop" up like it's supposed to and it barely stays up when put all the way up. a tap is all it takes for it to come slamming down. I adjusted the torsion bolts all the way and it's no better. is there a fix for this?
