Re: Three speed manual, not shifting

Hello Mike and welcome. It has been many years since I've been into my 65 F100 steering column. What I remember on mine was the slot in the tube was worn out letting it go in between gears. You can get it freed up but as you've likely figured it will get hung up again. You can use a wire welder or a...

Re: Driving Your MEL Powered Vehicle On Today's Pump Gas

Update: The last two tanks of gas have been Sam's Club 86 octane with lead additive at around 3,500 feet above sea level. Truck is so quiet I could hear pre-detnation if we're to occur, but I keep octane supplement in the tool box just incase. So far the truck and trailer haven't been north of 9,000...

New Exhaust For Center Dump Exhaust Manifolds In A 1965 F-250

Got my exhaust done on the Edsel / Mercury exhaust manifolds. They fit the truck well, the exhaust man was able to jog around the starter Bendix. Also had to cut a corner off of the driver side engine mount to make way for the flange. I used the factory 63/64 352/390 Galaxie engine which allowed the...

Re: 430 Super Marauder

The Lincoln Master Parts Catalog (September 1960 revision) still lists the SM tri-power specific to the Lincoln. So that's at least two years after it's introduction, as far as we can tell. Thanks' for posting. Do you have any knowledge if there was any performance preference to a guy who had say a...

Re: Piston Installation and combustion chamber overbore

I have a pair of 58' Mercury exhaust manifolds on it now but may go with the Lincoln's due to availability. I'm scheduled to have the exhaust hung next Wednesday. I'll pm you.

Re: Newb w/ '66 F100

I have run both actually. I was using a 70's Motorcraft starter but found a good deal on a Powermaster unit and switched to that. Unfortunately, the Powermaster doesn't have any better clearance in this application than the OEM starter did. It just created it's own set of clearance issues and I'm s...

Re: 1965 Lincoln 430 MEL To 1965 F-250

This is great info! I bought an FE 3 speed Overdrive trans and bellhousing to put behind a 430 and quickly noticed the starter issue so I put the auto back behind it for the time being. My plan was to get the 3 speed all set up until I could run a Toploader. What are you doing about a pilot bearing...
