EDF-8592-A, same as all 1958-59 383, 410 and 430 cid for Mercury. Not sure about 1960, because they might have gone to a coolant reservoir like Ford did that year. Thunderbird appears to have had the coolant reservoir with all the 1958/60 models, so no dice there. Talk to John Fowlie at Big "M" Aut...

Re: New guy here with a 62 430 rebuild!

Here she is in all her beauty! Hello, I have seen a set of Egge pistons that came out of a noisy Edsel 410. They had the correct step but no pin offset. Being heavy on one side was causing them to rattle. As far as I know Wiesco is the only one that has the correct $1100 set of custom pistons. I bo...

Re: Help Me Diagnose My '64 Trans

A little late response. It sounds like a sticking valve body. A shade tree technique I learned when I worked at a transmission shop was to raise the drive axle and run the gears. At 20 mph put it in park and run through the gears again. Many times it did work but I never did like the parking pawl gr...

Re: Just joined

Name's Ken Livingstone. Recently acquired a nice, original '58 Edsel with the E475 MEL engine. In the process of servicing it to run now. Grew up on Chevy's (insert insult here.... ) later became a FORD tech at a dealer here in Ontario. Now running my own Ducati Specialty shop in Oshawa, plus dabbl...

Re: Casting number EDB

Looks like your intake is dated October 12, 1957. If that block matches it is an early 58 which was just before the "box car numbers" 575XXXX. I have heard of some 430 blocks going .120" over and stroked with Jahns pistons. My 1960 - 65 blocks have been good for .015 to .080" over. Maybe yours is on...

7.3 Or 460 ZF To 61-68 MEL?

The starter pockets are about in the same spot. Has anyone mocked up a late 430/462 to a Ford ZF from a pick-up truck?
Thanks

Re: 1958 Edsel and 1966 Lincoln Interchange?

Can I dress my late 462 as an early 410? Primarily I like the early intake without the water neck to expansion tank (going into a non FoMoCo car). Also I will not need the Power steering pump so wondering if I can trade the front cover and delete it? It appears all the valve covers swap as well. St...
