Hello Buck,
I see why you like the car. The trim, lines and modest fins are a perfect match. Now I want one. The late model factory rear wheels on the black car look familiar but I can't find a photo of them online.

Re: Replacement oil pump advice?
According to a local builder who has done a few of the MEL engines the FE oil galley modifications can be done to the MEL. I've seen a couple he did. As for an FE I have done a few blocks with 7/16" galleys and all screw in plugs. At times an FE could loose an oil galley plug. One reason for the lat...

I have a few odds and ends but nothing that size. That is some talented paint mixing to duplicate quart by quart.

Re: Early Intake Manifold Score
Your driving comparision with the tall and short manifolds is appreciated. Especially the hold down information. I've never had open spacers work well down low either on an FE. There should be some information here about the 390/428 GT/CJ camshaft re-grind on the MEL camshaft. I'll be out of state f...

Re: Early Intake Manifold Score
I see you were still able to use the accelerator cable. Have you had a chance to check fuel mileage?

Re: Early Intake Manifold Score
Look's good. Makes me want to get on mine. I also think it was the hood line. Lincoln dropped the hood line for 61 causing the 61 and up starter movement and the squished intake manifold. Look's like an FE thermostat housing was modified to work.

Re: Newb w/ '66 F100
I am ok with 5 bolts. I was talking about only running 4 like yours has. Yours has the dowl about 4" outside the nearest bolt. Lincoln might have seen an issue with the 5 bolt automatic transmissions. In 1966 the 462 received a sixth bolt below the starter. This was done by casting a bolt on ear tha...

Re: Newb w/ '66 F100
I had considered doing that but adding the fifth bolt boss above the starter or even tanking a busted FE and grafting that whole ear on. The dowls provide the tensile strength but that loss of clamping force around the dowl had me concerned about possibly cracking the bell housing when the 65 F-250 ...
