Hooker race headers that are listed for Mustangs and Fairlanes are also for Mavericks. So says Hooker anyway. It think some shock tower mods would be in order though.
look on the maddog headers site. they have headers for that, they even have headers for a falcon with a fe.most of the headers on his site are ford, a welcome surprize.......gopher
Hooker says that but in typical hooker fashion they'll say anything to get your money.
An FE physically doesn't fit in a Maverick so headers aren't much of a concern at that point. You need to do lots of shock tower surgery and move the upper control arms out, by then any headers for a Mustang or Fairlane can be made to work.
I recall a CARS mgz. feature Maverick from way back in the day that had a Tunnel Port with stock shock towers. I owned a Maverick at the time and that car still sticks out in my memory. It was a very tight fit, to be sure. But from the photos, it looked like it would bolt in.
I can`t see how a FE would fit into a stock Mavericks engine compartment, without some serious cutting. Unless my eyes are worse than I think, a Mavericks engine bay is much tighter than a 67-70 Mustang or 66-69 Fairlane. Even a 351W is very tight, and I used to own a 71 Maverick that a buddy had built with a 351C, and no way would it have fit with the stock shock towers.

A Maverick has the type engine compartment as my 65 Mustang and there is no way an FE would physically fit with the original shocktowers and upper A-arm location. I chopped my shocktowers all up trying but it wasn't gonna happen. I ended up putting a Mustang II suspension on mine and now I have plenty of room for headers.
No way any FE will go into a Maverick w/o serious mods. The Tunnel Port equipped car you saw likely underwent the knife to seriously cut back the tops of the spring towers, probably all the way down to the horizontal frame member. This would look like the 69-70 Boss 429 mods that Ford made whereby the towers were cut back, along with a few other mods.
Hey, I looked to do the same many years ago (but with a SOHC 427, ala' Dyno Don's Maverick) but decided all the work wasn't worth the effort w/o a full tube chassis.
Today, best bet would be to buy and install one of those aftermarket front clips using Mustang II components. Then, any FE would easily fit although the headers may still need to be custom. Some off-the-shelf headers might fit but how does one "borrow" new headers to see if they would fit?
