I have one in my '63. Works very well. Mounting instruction were useless as was the fan shroud I paid for. Call them and you get attitude. That's my experience for what its worth.
it's got an .040 topoiler 427 4 speed, and on a 90-plus degree day, it averages 180-190 degrees. no shroud, flex fan 1" from the core. the overall temp dropped about 15 degrees from the factory GT 3-row copper unit. fellow forum members helped me with the hose combo, the hoses offered from crites were incorrect(i'm also running the edelbrock waterpump however.)
I have not used a Crites, but, several cars I've done, including my SOHC Liner, Ive used the 67/70 Mustang rad....easy swap / eliminate surge tank / available shroud / and if you want aluminum, use the Griffin piece, stamped top looks much better than a welded tank top...drill two holes in lower core support, use stock Mustang lower brackets and same for upper/ stock Mustang hoses / water outlet...
I think Crites should be praised for keeping Galaxies, LWG,Thunderbolts alive...

... more than once I've heard how rude Crites "can" be. But mostly, what I notice is all the years that they have kept selling, producing parts for and listening to Ford people looking for parts for cars that no one else even thought about making.
Buy or don't buy from them, but the simple fact is, as long as they have parts that I need and don't rip me off - I'll still check out their site and buy what I need if they have it.
A lot of companies have jumped into the "old" Ford Performance parts business in the last 10 - 15 years, - I wonder if they would have even bothered if Folks like Crites hadn't been around to show them the way?

Thanks to everyone for your replies. The knowledge base here and the speed of replies on a topic are what keep this one of the greatest boards out there.
I've dealt with Crites for parts on a couple of my cars, engine install kits, crossmember, headers, F/glass hood etc. so I'm used to the attitude that comes with it. In all, they do produce the parts we need and in many cases are the sole supplier.
For the radiator, it's still an option at this point. There was a comment made about eliminating the expansion tank. Is this a better way to go? Also will the tank even fit on a Blue Thunder aluminum intake?
