There are reproduced but they tend to leak, you see them on ebay every now and then and they can be pricey, I've seen them go for $300.00.

I have never seen a repro fuel canister. I've heard guys say they were made but never actually seen one. Do you know who made them? Thanks

Canister

November 9 2008, 10:36 PM

The ones that leak were made in the far east,
and sold through Dale's, that and his linkage was bad,
don't know if that problem has been resolved.

Isn't DST selling canisters ?

His stuff is NOS...

and only available if he has one. Correct me if I'm wrong but the original fuel filters were made by Holley for Ford. I might have had one of those bad repro's at one time. It was very hard to screw together. I looked for a bad spot or bend in the threads but couldn't find one.

Holley

November 10 2008, 3:16 PM

Holley had their own, fashioned like Ford's, however the Holley
didn't have a hard connection, just nipples. Ford's was made by Ford.

Yes the repos wouldn't screw correctly, for some reason, therefore
the leaks, especially if it was a chrome canister. As it was,
Ford's was no gem to screw together either.

I've got about 50 of the filters for the canister, if anyone needs any.

I know Holley made the ones with the nipples, they came later. If you put them side by side IMO they are identical other than the connections. Thats why I'm 99% sure that Holley made them for Ford but, I could be wrong.

I actually believe that Holley made them for Autolite

November 10 2008, 7:44 PM

I say that because the early Holley ones were definitely the same and Holley made Autolite distributors, some carbs and fuel pumps too. They came in quite a few versions from Holley according to my 1958 catalog, they had painted or chrome and they were available with nipples in 1/4 or 5/16 or with 1/4 or 5/16 flair fittings. I also know that later on they were available from Holley with 3/8 fittings. Hawkrod
