About a month ago I asked if anyone had any luck getting an MSD distributor to fit in a cammer. I got some good answers, although I could not make mine work--not enough clearance in two key area to get any meaningful rotation.
The whole purpose of the exercise was to replace the type 37(optical sensor + shutter wheel) Mallory, which I inherited. I had breakup at higher rpm.
I found out Mallory does make the type 57 magnetic pickup for the FE and I got one of those. It fit right in and I took it out for a ride.
How can I say? It was the first time I have driven the car and it did not breakup. Wow, what a difference. Very, very stout.
