Guy's, I'm posting this ? for a friend. He has a 500 ci Alum. Shelby w/edelbrock heads and aftermarket shaft rocker setup. He said his top end is drowning in oil.Where should this oil be restricted?Does this block have any oil drain back issues? He has a wet sump pan Thanks in advance. Rick

I think there's a natural limiter as far as drowning the top end

and that's the inboard waterfall of oil as it floods the heads kind of small built in returns and simply flows around the pushrod areas and heads into the lifter galley. There is only so far the oil level on the heads can raise before it mass drains..JMHO

Install restrictors.......................

in oil supply galley just under rocker arm support pedestal (next to stud). These are pics of the rivet restrictor that was posted a long time ago by another forum member.

I've found that the stock 302 pushrod has the right outer diameter AND a .110" hole in the middle. On my engine,
I just cut a 3/8" length from the end and installed
as the restrictor. It keeps the oil down on the bottom
very well. Works for me..

I don't know about the aftermaket shafts but

If the stock ones are installed upside down, they will flood the head.

.... its easy to get too much silicone in that area when installing the intake manifold ..... there border line of being to small when done right but too much silicone will clogg them up

Restrictors

Restrictors can also be made from carb jets, they fit perfectly and can be drilled to whatever size you like. I believe .070 - .090 is recomended. I cleaned the hole and used a bit of JB Weld to hold them in place.
