I use the spacer......

but a stock ignition. Ya, that's right, single points and all-no MSD.

I've got a factory 427 marine Mallory dual point tach drive I've been wanting to put in for the real hot rod look. Got the cable and tach too. The bad part is this model dizzy is about as tall even with crab cap that I still can't get cap off with blower on manifold.

The tach dizzy I have in my race car is the short body model but it's not a crap cap(takes different body and can't mix caps-they are different diameters). It could be done, but have to do some creative machine work.

Another question.

Will the M/T front covers w/the distributor drive fit under a stock water pump? I doubt it but I don't know for sure. If you can't run the stock water pump, why not use a flathead type distributor run off the cam? Mallory makes a nice looking electronic unit that seems ideal. Just asking.

that's it

that's what i was looking for.that dist.probably will not work with a stock water pump.don't think the boat style pump will move enough water in a closed system.not on the street anyway.are these cam drives still available?

if you can find a CAST cover (needs some thickness) you can get Summers Bros to add drive

October 11 2008, 7:45 AM

You would want a cast aluminum cover, maybe a Blue Thunder cover, or a Dove cover, or an old marine cover. Talk to Summers and they'll machine it to accept one of their drives (which are sold separately from the SBC and BBC covers they show on their website). Or, find a drive on your own and machine a cover if you have the contacts or resources.

Summers Bros isn't the only company that makes separate drive units for cam-drive applications...
