I have one...

...in the 460 for my Bonneville project. Worked perfect on the dyno...haven't made it to the salt yet.

BEWARE: it makes your motor look like a Chevy!

They work well but...

Look like utter dog pile as previously stated. Definately rear mount application only. My sideoiler ran great but why hide the pretty motor? lots of great alternatives available.

I have one on my 351w

Check the curve. I wasn't happy with what they set me up with. Also they sit very high. You might not be able to run the air filter that you want to. Hood clearance might be an issue. So bad they offer an offset adapter from the carb to the filter housing. Still pretty darn tall. I had to raise my air filter up 4" to clear the dist. John

I used one on my 460 also ....

Had the same issue with the curve and they do take up alot of room, otherwise they use good components(Dyna module). Using reworked Duraspark and a 6 AL box on the 2 latest projects. Mike

I've got one on the shelf in the garage.

I just could not bring myself to put it on the 427. I am running a Mallory Unilite instead. I'm sure they would work fine for you but I just can't see it looking right lol

Would you be interested in selling the distributor? Also, could I get a picture of it? Thanks Randy

WHY WHY WHY

October 10 2008, 2:54 AM

Would you put the ugliest POS dizzy in the world front and center in your motor all the while announcing "I really like chevies"???????????
I truly do not understand how in the hell they ever sold one of those POS's never mind the number they did sell.
And don't give me the "cheap price" crap, its an FE, make it look like it should.

I gotta agree...

they look really out of place on a Ford. That big honking distributor has got to be in the way of something due to its size. Instead of using an old technology like that, step up to an MSD. It will be more money but worth it. You don't need to go full race MSD stuff just the basics will do nicely. A nice billet dist. with a blaster coil and a 6 box will work great. If the budget doesn't allow that at least use the later model Duraspark set up. You can get everything you need from Autozone relatively cheap and it will work well.

Well just running out of funds for the 428. This is the first ford fe I have ever done and its just very expensive for everything. But I think I will be very happy with my results though. Thanks for all the replies.

Running out of funds?

October 10 2008, 8:27 AM

Well! I would suggest a stock Motorcraft electronic distributor with stock external control module. Or a stock points type distributor with Pertronix set up. You can upgrade when funds allow.

Randy, I can relate to the lack of funds problem. I have a distributor with a Per Lux unit in it that works fine. In fact, I removed it from my old 390 that was in the Galaxie. I planned to put it in the 451 but acquired a Mallory Unilite that I am now running. I have a spare Mallory dual point I keep in the trunk in case the Unilite goes tits up. You can have the Per Lux distributor for the cost of shipping. Always glad to help out when I can. BTW, Per Lux was the company name before Pertronix, its the same unit as a Pertronix.
