After you shut it off, look down into the carb and see if gas is dripping into the manifold. If you see something that resembles steam coming up through your carb then gas is leaking into the manifold. and your engine is getting flooded. This can happen if one of the holes are clogged in one of the venturies. I had one that was clogged so bad, you couldn't even tell that there was a hole there. And that was after soaking it in carb cleaner overnight.
