and tool is less expensive then buying a longer tap or you can try pressing a nut on the square end of the tap that will fit thru block and tap using the appropriate socket.Use a good quality pipe plug made by the USA company because the lesser quality off-shore plugs tend to twist-off or self-destruct when you attempt a future R&R. DO NOT use thread locker to seal plug.
