Response to Computers, cars, and markets

"Every time that gas takes a sudden jump the mileage drums beat louder for about a year and then the consumer base decides that they really like their larger vehicles anyways. After the initial furor dies down, the various Falcons, Pintos, Escorts, Focus (Focii?) die on the dealer lots."

Maybe we can't/shouldn't have the choice of using the natural resources the way we want.

If we're that flippant as a consumer block, the lead time required of the car companies can't react. Looks to me like its a mess like we have now. Imho, using CAFE for non-comercial vehicles would level the playing field for the manufacturers.

And, the way I see it, the high fuel prices only affect the regular people...like me (a school teacher). Btw, I drive a truck every day (for the 10 annual boat and motorcycle towing trips and going to Home Depot for home repair needs), but don't think I should.

You are what you drive.
