Response to Gotta agree

I'll say it again, ford C-4 and C-6 transmissions don't have a filter, they have a screen. They are meant to be cleaned however if regular maintenance has not been performed they can get plugged with trash from the clutches and bands or worst yet big metal particles. They will not screen out small particles. This is not the case with mine as it receives maintenance when needed. I just had not changed the fluid since the old engine let go and wanted to completely remove all the old fluid from the trans, converter, lines and coolers. The method I used did precisely that. The fluid was checked for metal or fiber particles and none were found. That with the fact that I had changed the filter last time I changed the fluid is why I didn't pull the pan. My dilema was with the type of fluid I used and wether it was compatible with the TCI internals in my trans. I guess to play it safe I should at least use type F fluid or a compatible F type racing fluid. It's a race only trans which sees regular teardowns for inspection and replacement of worn parts not my daily driver.
