I drained all the fluid first from the pan, approximately 11 quarts. Then I filled it back with eleven fresh quarts of dextron/Mercon fluid (Nappa Brand). I then disconnected the high pressure line coming from the radiator cooler and air to air cooler (braided line)and clamped it into a bucket. I then started the car. The fluid went from the pan to the pump, through the converter out the high pressure line, through the radiator cooler, then the air to air cooler and into the bucket. The fluid never made it back to the trans. In the mean time, I was pouring more clean fluid down the filler tube back into the pan to replace the fluid going into the bucket. I didn't cycle the old fluid. The fluid in the trans now looks like what pours out of a new bottle. As for the filter in the trans, Ford trans come with a screen rather than a filter. My trans actually has a Chebby filter cause the TCI deep pan comes with an extension to lower the pickup to the bottom of the pan and a replacement Xbrand filter which I had replaced recently.
