Response to IMO, don't spend the money for aftermarket. A good rebuild along with a..........

For more than the obvious reasons...I've run stock Ford distributors in many of my street and race cars over the years w/o problems. What I really like about the Ford distributors is it is a lot easier to get parts out on the road. You can upgrade to a dual point,non-vacuum advance very easily and with a good quality set of points and a good ol' stock Ford, yellow top ( not a repo )coil you can have a very reliable part. From there you can add a Pertronix if you don't like maintaining points. How many miles will you be driving it? Don't forget that many of the old racers ( Dyno Don,etc ) ran Ford distributors w/points! I am currently building distributors for overseas racers that run under FIA rules and they don't allow ignition upgrades.( Ford HiPo 289 w/stock dual points )I've got some very healthy AC cars w/289 engines running very fast, very long.............Just my opinion.,of course

Engines are like garages, never big enough! Check out my distributor restoration site! http://428cobrajetcars.homestead.com
