Response to 428 CJ twist on breather caps for aluminum finned valve covers

Hawk, Royce, & Others,

Just asking for a buddy of mine, he doesn't need anything but something that works and looks semi correct. He bought an engine that someone else got about 90% completed and then descided to sell. He bought his wifes old 1967 S code fastback back that her first husband sold off back when.

The car has a locker and 4.30 rear end, because it was running a single 4 high riser back then.

My friend is a chevy guy, and thought he was getting a stought engine, because he saw the reciepts, and could tell that the guy had spent some money, unfortunately, I didn't get to see what it had in it, until after he bought it.

STATS: 0.30 over 390 late raised external ribbed block, like a 427 service block. Block is decked and line bored with the main studs, Brand new cast Scat 428 crank, after market harmonic ballancer, Ross forged pistons, stock 390 rods with no work, but ARP bolts, ARP main studs, Mellings oil pump, a truck oil pan and new truck fuel pump, hydraulic cam rated at idle to 4,000 RPM, 14 bolt heads (yes, you guys were correct on the C8AE-H) the heads had new guides, new seats, all new stainless intakes and exhausts & non-ported/stock runners. ARP head studs, stock - non adjustable rocker settup, repop finned alluminum 428 Cobra valve covers, a highly polished Edelbrock 390 performer intake, a bright finish/endura shine like holley 600 vacum sec. carb, MSD billet distributor with 6A box, and every external manifold, water pump, fuel pump, oil filter addapter bolt, etc. are all ARP 12 point polished stainless. All these parts and work were brand new, and it has never been fired.

Not exactly how I would spend that much to make power, nor exactly set up for a 4.30 detroit locker if you follow me.

On top of this, the build sheet shows a purchased flex plate bought from the machine shop, and obviously part of the ballanced assembly, but he is running a top loader, and never got the flex plate, so how was the rotating assembly balanced vs. the missing weighted flex plare??? Furter, the builder used a stock oil pump drive and put it in off center so it was outside the hole, and not even in the distributor drive. The builder also ground two of the ARP main stud nuts too half there orriginal thickness and ground those two main studs flush to clearance the truck pan (I am sure that did wonders for their heat treat)

Anyhow, my buddy bought it all painted up and pretty, with duct tape over the exhaust ports and oil breather holes in the covers, and he needs something cheap, yet nice looking to use for the oil breathers in the valve covers.
