CHRIS CRAFT COMMANDER FORUM ® .......A photo-intensive technical reference file and ongoing newsletter regarding the original fiberglass Chris Craft Commander. Our mission at this not-for-profit non-commercial web site is to "have fun and share information" for your individual personal use. Our main reference feature is the ever expanding MASTER INDEX Files which contain exhaustive photo and technical information on the Chris Craft Commander line (like these 38' Commander brochure scans) , (an awesome collection of Chris Craft 427 tuning and specification information), and a few words about how to use the information in the forum, etc. Be sure to look at the information about the 2009 Chris Craft Commander Rendezvous, second year in a row on Lake Erie!! If you're a Commander fan, this will be an event you won't want to miss.

Response to New Commander owner

Hey there Bill, a big WELCOME ABOARD with your 1967 38 Sedan !

I saw the serial number and I thought, "that can't be a 67, with the serial number starting with a 3, because my Express is a 66 and it starts with a 3". However, upon checking I see the Sedan DOES start with a 3 in 1967. Why? Because they (Chris Craft) wanted to. It actually signifies the third year of production for that model, my 38 Express started production in 64 and your Sedan model in 65.

As for Chris Wade, a fine guy to know and associate with. If you're hanging out with him, you're in good company.

Not all of what you see on the Commander is Schooner 96, but it is currently my favorite and I'll be using it on the toe rail refinish soon. The side panels were laid out flat and finished with a foam roller, in THIN applications so it wouldn't wrinkle.

On your repower, you have a lot of choices. We'll help you with any technology we have, and maybe some we don't. Welcome to the group. Interesting thing, when I got my Commander after owning a nice 35' wood Chris Craft Sea Skiff for a few years, there was VIRTUALLY NOTHING on the internet about the Chris Craft Commander except those for sale ads. Nothing about the boat itself, it's history, or any features, models, etc. Today things are different, and its a result of many people sharing the info. So enjoy what we have here, hope it helps you, and please feel free to share your experiences and photos too.

Regards, all the best,

Paul
