Just a note in from Matt ODonnell this morning. We'll post a formal update in a few days, but for now here is an informal bit of news:
Matt has now obtained a committmenet for 35 docks at the Huron Yacht Club and Boat Basin. Once we reach 40 we're out of room, and we'll have to either raft boats within the Basin or tie up along side the breakwater ! When August 22-24 rolls around, my hunch is, there will be 40 boats in those 40 spaces. Therefore, it's going to be important for people to make dock arrangements soon.
We have a host of people already signed up and we'll be communicating with them directly to be sure they have their dock arrangements taken care of. The Dockmaster at Huron Yacht Club has agreed to work with us directly, and Matt will try to group boats of similar length together, etc.
For people (like me) who are attending from out of state, our reservations are important to allow for food planning, chairs and tables, etc.
If you are a Chris Craft Commander fan, Commander owner, Chris Craft enthusiast, or just love boating history, this will prove to be an exciting, fun and educational venue. The Western end of Lake Erie, extending up through Lake St. Clair and the Detroit River to Lake Huron, represents one of the richest locations on the planet for vintage boats of all kinds, and this includes the Chris Craft Commander line.
The collective experience from the organizers of this event include scores of in-the-water boating events, both as organizers and participants. The intent is to promte a low key, low pressure, fully enjoyable experience for the classic Commander boat owner, fan, enthusiast (and their families). Hope to see you there!
A formal event agenda and reservation form will be published in a matter of days. When it's published, this note will disappear.
Stay tuned...............!
Regards,
Paul
